Diamond is pioneering Thermo-fogging equipment in fight against Covid-19

29 May 2020

West Midlands North West Worcester and Warwickshire

In preparation moving towards resuming full service, Diamond Bus is set to become the first UK bus company to invest in new Thermo-fogging disinfection equipment for each of its depots.

We have been dedicated to ensuring the safety of passengers and drivers both during the Covid-19 lockdown and now that we begin moving slowly back towards normal life. To demonstrate our commitment to public safety, all Diamond operating depots will be implementing a daily disinfection regime that is efficient, effective and certified to guarantee that every bus begins its daily service completely sanitised and virus free.

With so many buses and so little time, by using Ionic Systems Thermo-fogging equipment we will be able to disinfect our vehicles quickly and cost effectively every evening. By ‘Thermo-fogging’, an entire bus can be sanitised in under three minutes. By volumising an approved (EN 14476) disinfectant into the complete airspace within the bus there is no hiding place for the virus to exist. The fine mist that settles on every surface at every angle remains effective against both Covid-19 as well as other viruses and bacteria for more than 24hrs. In addition to the speed of delivery, the  benefit of Thermo-fogging equipment is the fact that no area is missed during the application.

Our staff have been fully trained and certified in disinfection fogging and use only the approved Covid-19 disinfectant. The cleaning operator is completely protected as even airborne viruses are killed during the process and wear protection whilst undertaking the cleaning process. Once applied the disinfectant is effective, it is also fabric friendly and safe to use.

We are taking these and other proactive measures to give you confidence and reassurance that it is safe to use our buses for your essential journeys. There are still many social distancing guidelines in place for those travelling on bus services and you can read more about the guidelines you should follow here.
