From 27th-31st October 2025

Due to the closure of Belvedere Rd, there will be significant impact to services to Queens Hospital during these 5 days.

Between 09:00 - 18:00, Services 8 & 9 from Ashby / Airport will terminate at Burton Rail Station.

There will be separate 8 & 9 Shuttle Services between New St & the Hospital from 09:00 until 18:00. Any Passenger travelling to the Hospital area from the town centre will need to catch this Shuttle Service.

outside of the above times service 8 & 9 will continue to serve the hospital.

Services 401, 402 & 403 will not serve between the Rail Station & Tutbury Road.

Any passenger from the direction of Uttoxeter requiring the Hospital, or from the Hospital requiring travel to Uttoxeter,  will need to catch the 8 or 9 Shuttle Service to/from the Railway Station or New Street and then change to their required service to/from Uttoxeter.

PLEASE RETAIN YOUR TICKET TO TRANSFER ONTO YOUR ONWARD JOURNEY.

The only services serving King Edward Place, St Pauls St West & Shobnall St will be the 8 & 9 Shuttles between the Hospital & Town.

The Uttoxeter Services will divert via Waterloo St, Victoria Crescent & Horninglow Rd between the Railway Station & Tutbury Rd.

The 8 & 9 Shuttle will serve New St to Shobnall St as normal, then use Dallow St, Victoria Rd, Derby St, Derby Turn Island, Horninglow Rd/Horninglow Rd North, Calais Rd, Foston Ave & Denton Rd (or Norton Rd if accessible).

Route 9 - A511 Boundary Closure 21/10/2025 12:16:44

20:00 – 06:00 on Saturday 1st  & Sunday 2nd November 2025

The A511 will be closed overnight at Boundary, Between Woodville & Ashby de la Zouch.

During these times Route 9 will divert via Blackfordby & Norris Hill to travel between Woodville & Ashby.

The following stops will not be served:

A511 Ashby Road; Millfield St, Beech Drive, The Greyhound, Heath Lane.
Ashby/Burton Road; Ivanhoe Store, Anwell Lane, Ingles Hill Farm.
Burton  Road; Prestop Park, Spring Avenue

Alternative stops will be:
High St Woodville; Hepworth Rd & Burton Road, Ashby; School Lane.

Changes to Services 8 & 9 14/10/2025 11:21:11

From 9th November 2025

From 9th November Route 8 and 9 will change in order to improve reliability on both of these services.

Both 8 & 9 services will terminate at Burton New St, with onward travel to Queens Hospital available with the introduction of a new 7 & 7A service to the Hospital.

The buses will change service number at Burton New St, however passengers are permitted to stay on the bus* and travel through from service 9 to the 7, or from Service 8 to the 7A and vice versa. Passengers do not need to disembark or re-scan a ticket at Burton New St for onward travel towards the Hospital.

* Some connections may require transfer of buses

Bus Changes on Services 8 & 9 13/10/2025 15:27:27

From Sunday 14th September until 8th November 2025

The impact of extensive roadworks in the area are causing significant reliability problems on Service 8 & 9.
To help alleviate the problems, we are putting additional resources and buses into these routes to make these services more reliable.

There may be some instances where, on arrival at Burton New St, the Driver may request that you transfer onto an alternative bus to continue your journey.

This is to allow buses to recoup their journey time and reduce lateness on these services.

If you are asked to transfer:

• Please be understanding that this is to improve reliability of your services. The Driver will have received this instruction from our Traffic Control Office.
• Please follow the Drivers guidance on transferring
• Tickets purchased on the original part of your journey will remain valid for your transfer until your destination.
• If you purchased a Single - Please ensure you retain your ticket for your full journey
