Promoting career paths to the next generation...
09 July 2024
Last month the Diamond Bus team were invited to take part in a careers event at Summerhill Primary Academy, Tipton.
Throughout the day, over 200 students were invited to ask questions about working for Diamond Bus and to take a seat in a Diamond Bus to see a drivers eye view!
As an employer of over 400 staff in the Black County, this was a great opportunity to speak to a younger generation about the wide variety of careers that are available within the bus & coach industry. Members of our Operations and HR team talked to students about the various roles people play in making a bus company run smoothly – from engineers, mechanics and bus drivers to admin staff and accountants – all these people play an import role in our business today.
Diamond Bus Managing Director Bob Baker, a Black Country local himself, also joined the event to encourage these 9-11 year olds to think about the bus and coach industry when they are considering their future career options. Bob said of the event, “The bus industry is often overlooked by the younger generation as a good career choice, and we are thrilled to have been invited to this careers fair today to help to change that perception. The bus industry can offer a reliable, secure and community focussed career option with great opportunities work your way up through a successful local business”
