In Memoriam – Mark Butler

20 October 2026

North West

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague and dear friend Mark Butler in October 2026.

Having joined Rotala at the Diamond Bus North West business in 2014, he quickly became an integral part of the business and remained so throughout his time with us. Working within our operations team, he played a vital role in keeping our business moving day after day. His knowledge, commitment and unwavering work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues across the organisation and throughout the wider industry.

Over the years, he built an incredible career and became someone whom people could always rely upon. No matter the challenge, he approached it with positivity, professionalism, and determination. He was loyal, dedicated and always willing to help, never hesitating when asked to lend his support.

Bob Dunn Chairman of Rotala Group Ltd who was a close friend and colleague reflected:

"Mark always remained positive, loyal and committed, from whatever was thrown at him. Mark never said no to anything that was asked of him, he was truly one of a kind. However, Mark was never just an employee to me. He was my friend.

Marks loyalty to me, my family and our business was something I valued enormously and will never forget. You meet many people during a lifetime in business, but only a few become true friends.

Mark was one of those people.

We will never replace Mark. There was only one Mark Butler.

My thoughts and deepest condolences are with all his family at this very sad time.

Rest in peace, my friend. Thank you for your friendship, your loyalty and for being part of our lives for so many years. You will be greatly missed and never forgotten."

His passing leaves a tremendous void within Diamond Bus North West and across the industry he served so faithfully. More importantly, it leaves an even greater void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him as a colleague, mentor and friend.

All our thoughts are with his family, friends and all who knew him during this incredibly difficult time. He will be remembered with great affection, deep respect and lasting gratitude for the contribution he made to our business and the countless lives he touched.

Mark will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
